Ted Felix
After seeing that teaching my kids at home was far more effective at making them smart than either public or private school, I decided we should look a little more seriously at the homeschool option. Since I've already taught them quite a bit, I'm convinced I can do it. My main questions have been: "Where do we get books?" and "What makes a portfolio that will keep the State of Maryland happy?" Now that we are living this homeschooling adventure as of August 2005, we have answers to those questions and many more. One new question that has come to light is "What is the best way to motivate children to learn?" Check my homeschooling books page for some helpful resources.
This website is divided into three sections:
Homeschooling in Frederick County, Maryland
Information specific to where we live. Each state has
different laws and each local government has different
interpretations of those laws. It's a good idea to find
out what to expect from other homeschoolers in your area.
Homeschool Curriculum
Textbooks, standardized testing, and other resources.
Books
Various homeschooling books for parents to read.
National Home Education Research Institute - Statistics and other interesting info.
Funny homeschooling quiz - Apparently I'm a "Relaxed Homeschooler". Who would've thunk it?
